FXpansion is proud to present Maul: a multi-band distortion and tone-shaping plugin with advanced modulation. Maul is suited to all music requiring powerful sound-sculpting abilities – everything from subtle warming and loudness generation to shredding distortion and experimental creative effects. Maul features 3 separate drive stages, each of which can act on a different frequency range with any of 32 distortion types. The available algorithms include DCAM-modelled germanium diode, tube and transistor-based circuits, clippers, overdrives, waveshapers of various kinds and bit-crushing devices for digital distortion flavours. Each drive stage also features control over transient-shaping, saturation circuitry and additional post-process tone filtering. The built-in TransMod modulation system allows you to animate Maul’s parameters with the internal LFOs, envelope follower and sample & hold devices as well as with external MIDI note input. This turns Maul into an extremely flexible device capable of dynamic filter patterns, rhythmic gating effects with extra bite, loudness and harmonic excitation effects and wild, dynamic distortion that can transform your audio.

FXpansion is proud to present Classic Hip Hop, a Geist Expander featuring authentic old-skool 80s and 90s hip hop sounds. Created by Mr Hoodie from The Groove Criminals, the samples include a comprehensive selection of drum hits, hats, percussion, stabs and noise alongside breakbeats and melodic instrument loops. The story behind Classic Hip Hop is a boombap romcom: a rose-tinted first love affair… with shell toes and beats. The samples reflect a purist ethos developed by years of painstaking dedication to the culture. Sounds are sampled through legendary 12-bit samplers for the right amount of grit, while an extensive collection of classic synths and drum machines was also used to create the raw material. Live musicians were recorded to tape, processed through ancient samplers or pressed onto dubplates and sampled back.

FXpansion is proud to present BFD Remix, a Geist Expander that provides affordable, high-quality acoustic drum samples, kits, engines and patterns ready to use in Geist, the next-generation sampling beatbox. BFD Remix combines pristine acoustic sounds with fat-sounding FX treatments within Geist to provide a versatile set of drum sounds that range from subtle kits to cutting edge, aggressive sounds that tear through a mix. The sounds are carefully selected from FXpansion’s BFD2 acoustic drum library, mixed down and ready to use in Geist. Originally recorded at Air Studios in London, it includes a wealth of kicks, snares, toms, hihats and cymbals recorded through elite studio gear. Alongside the raw WAV-format samples, Geist-format kits, engines and patterns, BFD Remix also contains a large selection of RX2 loops provided both dry and recorded through an array of high-quality outboard processing. Loops are pre-sliced and classified in Geist, so it’s easy to mix and match elements between them, while the included kits and engines feature extensive creative processing setups within Geist.

Some highlights of the pack include a wide variety of Goldbaby samples and loops, Yellow Tools acoustic kits and a comprehensive suite of classic vintage drum machine sounds, as well as a wealth of material from Wizoo Platinum, Groove Criminals, Gearshift and Biolabs, amongst others. In total, Best of GURU contains over 350 kits, over 1500 loops and over 9500 single-hit sounds. The included samples and loops are all in .WAV, .AIF or .RX2 format, so can be used in any software or hardware instrument which can load these formats.
